Kijo Body Meditation(click here to view/save as PDF) Kijo Meditation is specifically designed, to help you live comfortably in your whole body… your skin, bones, muscles, fascia, tendons, joint and ligaments… and most importantly, helping you recognize your body as a powerful path to a peaceful, rested mind. For the many years I meditated, making my space as comfortable as possible with my pillows, candles, and incense… utilizing the traditional tools of yoga… breath, mantra and posture… I realized the comfort I sought in my body was forever eluding me. Preparing for meditation was taking more time than the meditation itself. I found nothing comfortable in sitting like a yogi with my spine upright. I feared my discomfort would be my main path to enlightenment. I squirmed. I sagged. I fidgeted. These distractions were becoming the focus of my meditation. But with resignation, and some insight, I allowed my body’s discomforts to blossom into an opportunity to explore a new modality. A little voice told me, “Don’t fight it.” I took those fidgets and put them to work. I found I could take my squirms, my rocks, my sways… and integrate them with my natural body movements, to bring me to a trance like peace I had never known before. Kijo Body Meditation takes meditation one step further. We address the needs of the body with stretching, sacred movement, breathing techniques and loving affirmations. This new revolutionary program has a deep profound healing on your mental/emotional state. With Kijo meditation anyone can effortlessly slip into meditation without having to sit like a yogi. Drawing on my background as a Pow Wow woman (my play on words with my shamanic studies), I designed Kijo meditation, not only to offer you physical release in your body, but to give you the gift of “listening”. During the practice, you may begin to notice a pattern, a persistent thought, an emotion that is overwhelming. All of these are gifts from your body to assist you in your healing process. I will guide you to hear the messages and the feelings that arise within; to see the visions that appear. Aho! At the end of our time together I might read a poem, say a mantra, beat a drum, or end in total silence. Participants have mentioned that they felt whatever happened at the conclusion of class was custom designed just for them. Journaling is suggested, so you may reflect and honor all that has come your way. Welcome to Kijo Body Meditation. This class is open, available and acceptable for anyone on the path of transformation and healing. |
